Committee Descriptions
SPRC - The Staff Parish Relations Committee is the administrative unit in a local church where staff and congregational interests come together to focus on the mission of the church. There are both leadership and management roles associated with SPRC. The leadership role is to keep an "eye on the big picture" and always be aware of the mission of the church. The management role is to tend to daily activities so details are taken care of and strategies are implemented. The work of the SPRC includes education and reminding both staff and congregation to focus on working together toward the mission of the church by promoting unity, as well as encouraging, strengthening, nurturing, supporting and respecting the pastor, staff and their families.
Lay Leadership/Nominations - The Lay Leadership/Nominations Committee is responsible for identifying, developing, evaluating and monitoring Christian spiritual leadership for the congregation. The committee works with the church council or alternate administrative bodies to determine the diverse ministry tasks of the congregation and the skills needed for leadership.
Friendship Circle - Mission statement: To grow in our faith and to support our church and each other.
This is a group dedicated to women, who gather monthly for study, fellowship and lunch. Friendship Circle sponsors the monthly free community supper, as well as supporting local missions. Promoting various church projects and sponsoring several fundraising events each year helps to raise needed monies.
Fellowship & Nurture - The fellowship and Nurture committee is responsible for the social activities in the church. Funeral lunches, potlucks, coffee hours and various dinners are supported by Fellowship and Nurture. Outreach to the sick, shut-in and seniors is also a component.
Worship - The Worship committee is in place to facilitate worship. Music staff, communion stewards, alter guild, greeters, acolytes, liturgists and ushers are all part of this committee. Pastor Dan works in partnership with the Worship committee.
